Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he liked playing numerous card games when he was young. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these card games as he was playing his dad. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking skills. He applied these strategy concepts to the game of No-Limit holdem.

Howard also assisted his sibling Annie Duke learn poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she would always be asking questions about how to make the proper decision. Howard told Annie Duke to move out to Sin City and play in the WSOP tournaments. She is one of the best female players the poker world today. Howard relocated to Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and played money games for the next decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard made the decision to play more tournaments.
