No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
