Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the customary 52-card common deck and a single joker. The player is given seven cards face up and the croupier receives 7 cards faces hidden.
A five card hand and one two card hand have to be put together from the 7 cards dealt, the 5 card hand has to be higher than the two card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand values to be larger than the casino’s.
