Poker chips have been made from a huge range of materials in an almost infinite variety of styles since the birth of betting and the need to keep an eye on winnings. The most familiar components used today in the manufacture of current poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylics. Clay chips, the original of the bunch, have been manufactured in America since the late 19th century.
Back in the 19th century, poker players seemed to use any tiny item with value imaginable. Early poker enthusiasts sometimes used jagged gold pieces as well as chips – mainly made of wood and clay. By the 1900s, poker chip designs started to play a bigger prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips were given up to chips with ridges to hold them neatly piled up together.
There is little or no doubt that poker has expanded steadily in acceptance since its origin in the 1800s. With the explosive advancement of net gambling and unique TV shows, public interest in poker has feed the fire more rapidly than ever before. Many individuals are initially introduced to poker by TV showslike "Celebrity Poker" or "Poker After Dark," and many will wager on their 1st hands online. Regardless of net poker’s growth, not much replaces the feeling of holding weighty clay poker chips in your hands, throwing chips into the center of a poker table, or creating high pilesstacks of chips after displaying a winning hand.
